My own writing journey is actually how I became an editor. When I published my debut collection of poetry, The Way Home, in 2024, I fell completely in love with the process of bringing a manuscript to life. It was a challenging process, but the kind of challenge I love to dive into. I learned that I loved taking the complex pieces of a literary puzzle and finding the best ways to put them together.

Less than a year after publishing my book, a friend asked me to look at their book that was overwhelming them as it contained a lot of heavy, dense, and traumatic information. I agreed to help sift through layers upon layers of complex material and that’s when I knew I had unlocked a purposeful way to utilize my skills and passion beyond my own work. I found that I absolutely loved taking what they perceived as their literary chaos and help them bring clarity and ease to it (and the author!). I’ve always been intuitive with a sharp eye for detail and using those skills to help someone else create the best work they possibly can, my Goddess, It literally feels like spinning straw into gold.

And the whole editing process? I know from personal experience this can be intimidating AF. Frozen by anxiety and hypersensitivity to criticism. it took me six weeks just to open the edits to my own book because I was so terrified of what I’d find. But I slowly remembered that this was my work, and I was ultimately the one in charge of the revisions. Turns out, I had a really great editor who knew exactly how to talk to me – it makes all the difference! I was able to move through and implement the edits with ease and confidence while maintaining the creative essence and tone of the book.

This is why my approach is trauma-informed. Your book is deeply personal, I get that completely, and my process recognizes that the stories within a manuscript can carry significant emotional weight for the author. Due to this, our editing process is built on trust, respect, and emotional safety, giving you control and a clear understanding of what to expect. My feedback is designed to uplift your vision, always honoring your voice and your pace. My goal is to take some of the emotional burden off you, so you can feel empowered and confident bringing your book into the world.

And believe it or not, my background in finance and compliance is a huge part of this. For over 15 years, I worked in real estate lending compliance. Turns out, all that meticulous, critical thinking is highly transferable. My master's degree in Business Ethics and Compliance taught me how to approach every project with integrity while sifting through complex and sensitive data.

So, that’s my story. I’d love to hear yours. If you’re ready to give your non-fiction manuscript the care it deserves, let’s start a conversation.
